This coffee comes to us from the Kindeng Dry processing station, located in the Jikawa Province of Papua New Guinea. It is a blend of harvests from 1,500 small farmers situated in the municipalities of Kindeng and Arufa. Farms in these regions are quite tiny, around 1-2 hectares, and the soil is mostly sandy and clay-like. After the ripe cherries are picked, they are sent to the processing station and dried on African beds and tarps.
Although coffee from Papua New Guinea does not have official certification, it is organic by nature. This is due to the natural farming methods—no fertilizers or chemicals are used on the farms. Papua New Guinea Arabica is classified under the Indonesian category but stands out for its distinct flavor profile, valued by coffee connoisseurs for its balance, complexity, and multifaceted flavor palette. The coffee has a light but noble bitterness of dark chocolate.
In the cup, you'll find exotic fruits, including canned pineapple, chocolate, elderberry, and slight rum-like alcoholic notes. The body is creamy and rich. The coffee reveals its best qualities when brewed using drip methods (Chemex, pour-over, drip coffee maker, etc.) or in a French press.
